Articles of Faith

Parsippany Christian School is a ministry of Parsippany Baptist Church and is in full agreement with the doctrinal position of P.B.C.

Regarding the Scriptures

We believe the Holy Bible is a collection of sixty-six books from Genesis to Revelation. Therefore, we believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture as it was originally given by God and written by Spirit-controlled men. As such, it is the inerrant, infallible, and thus authoritative Word of God profitable for every area of life—to teach general truth about God and the world (doctrine), to reprove, to correct, and to instruct man on godly living (righteousness).

Regarding God

We believe in the unity of the Godhead. That is, there is one, and only one, living and true God. Within the unity of the Godhead, there are three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost—all equally God. God is a personal God who desires to have a relationship with mankind as evidenced by the fact He has revealed Himself in His Word. God transcends all mankind as the infinite, sovereign, supreme Creator of the Universe. He is perfectly holy, and He calls His children to be holy as well.

Regarding Jesus Christ

We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. Christ is fully God (deity) and fully man (humanity). Christ lived a sinless life, and therefore His substitutionary death is the satisfactory atonement for our sin. Christ arose literally and bodily from the dead and ascended to the righthand of God the Father. Christ sent His Holy Spirit to enable believers to understand the Word of God, to live holy lives, and to preach the Gospel to all the earth. Christ now lives to make intercession on our behalf.

Regarding the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit restrains the evil one until God’s purpose is fulfilled. Thus, He convicts of sin, of righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit is the agent of the New Birth. At the new birth, the Holy Spirit seals, baptizes/indwells, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies, and helps the believer.

Regarding the Devil or Satan

We believe that Satan was once holy, but, through pride and ambition to be as the Almighty, he fell and drew after him a host of angels. Satan is the unholy god of this world. Thus, he is man’s great tempter, the enemy of God, the accuser of the saints, the author of all false religions, and the chief power behind present apostasy. He is destined to final defeat at the hands of God’s Son, and to the Judgment of an eternal justice in hell, a place prepared for him and his angels.

Regarding Creation

We believe in the literal Genesis account of creation. As such, God created man directly in His own image and after His own likeness. Man’s creation was not a matter of evolution or evolutionary change of species, or development through interminable periods of time from lower to higher forms. All animal and vegetable life was made directly, and God’s established law was that they should bring forth only after their own kind.

Regarding the Fall of Man

We believe that in Adam all mankind sinned, and therefore we are all inherently sinful, utterly depraved, and personally responsible for our sin.
Regarding Atonement for Sin and Eternal Security: We believe sin separates man from God. However, God freely offers salvation by grace to all men. Salvation is received by faith. Thus, we must believe Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. At the moment of salvation (belief), an individual is born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit. Salvation results in justification before God and in eternal security for the believer.

Regarding the New Creation

We believe that salvation makes the believer a new creation in Christ Jesus. The new birth makes one who was dead in trespasses and in sins a partaker of the divine nature, a newness of life, and it results in eternal life the free gift of God.

Regarding the Church

We believe that a church of Christ is a congregation of immersed believers associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel. Under the direction of the church, believers are to observe two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper. As patterned by Scripture, the church officers are pastors and deacons whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined. We believe the true mission of the church is found in the great commission: first, to make individual disciples; second, to build up the church; third, to teach and instruct. The local church has the absolute right of self-government, free from interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations. We strongly encourage each student at Parsippany Christian School to join and to be actively involved in a local Bible believing church.

Regarding Civil Government

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society. Thus, we should pray for our magistrates, and we should conscientiously honor and obey them except in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Regarding Marriage and Human Life

We believe marriage between a man and woman has been divinely ordained by God for life. As well, since man was created in the image of God, human life is sacred.

Regarding the Resurrection and End Time Events

We believe in a literal interpretation of Scripture especially when it relates to End Time events. At the appointed time, the saved will be resurrected unto life, and the lost will be resurrected unto condemnation. We believe in the pre-tribulational rapture of the church by Christ and in the visible, bodily, pre-millennial second coming of Christ to establish His Millennial kingdom.
