GOALS & OBJECTIVES

TO PROCLAIM CHRIST

Colossians 1:28-29 - Whom [Christ] we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:  Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

In Colossians 1, the Apostle Paul lists the various aspects of his ministry designed to “present every man perfect in Christ Jesus,” The first goal was to preach, or proclaim, Christ. It is our desire to put Christ at the forefront of our educational system. Thus, it is our endeavor to integrate Scripture into every subject along with spiritual exercises into our daily routine such as class devotions, prayer, discipline, etc.

TO ADMONISH EVERY MAN

Colossians 1:28-29 - Whom [Christ] we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Paul continues in Colossians with a second goal—to warn, or admonish, every man. As humans who are spiritually depraved, it is, at times, necessary to warn and to admonish one another when we step out of the bounds of godly living. 2 Timothy 3 goes on to detail the value of the Word of God in this process. The Holy Spirit uses Scripture to reprove, to correct, and to instruct in righteous living. Therefore, the Word of God will be central to all of our discipline procedures. When it comes to discipline, our administration desires to balance mercy, love, and justice. Thus, we will address issues of “sin” as “sin.” That is, we discourage excuses from both students and parents for disobedient behavior and for rebellious attitudes.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

TO TEACH IN ALL WISDOM

Colossians 1:28-29 - Whom [Christ] we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:  29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

The final step in presenting “every man perfect in Christ Jesus,” is to teach wisdom. As demonstrated earlier, true wisdom has as its source God and His Word. We, at Parsippany Christian School, are not interested in solely academic, social, financial, or athletic wisdom. In God’s eyes, when it comes to eternity, this will all be just foolishness if not centered around the person of Christ. It is our desire to produce students who are biblically wise. That is, they are thoroughly equipped (2 Timothy 3:17) for life to produce a life of good works because they have learned to apply the principles of the Word of God to daily life. This, not academic success, or social success, or financial success, or athletic success is the true measure of success for the believer (Joshua 1:8; I Peter 1:15-16).

Joshua 1:8 - This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

I Peter 1:15-16 - But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
